Coach Kate Eggers Leaf

Kate began her running journey in middle school in Montevideo, Minnesota, where she quickly discovered a love for both competition and community. She continued running through high school and went on to compete at Gustavus Adolphus College, where she served as team captain, helped lead her team to a conference championship, and competed at the division 3 national level. Throughout her career, Kate found that her best performances came when she was enjoying the process and the people around her.

After stepping away from the sport for several years post-college, Kate rediscovered her passion for racing on the Minnesota circuit with Twin Cities Track Club. While she didn’t consider herself a high-mileage runner in her earlier years, she has since embraced the marathon as her favorite distance.

Kate spent 12 years as a middle school Spanish teacher before she and her husband opened Wild River Running, a specialty run shop in Stillwater, Minnesota, in 2024. Today, she’s immersed in the running community full-time and is passionate about helping others find joy, confidence, and connection through running—no matter their experience level.
